   • Randomly select and open several cartons to inspect the product.
   • Look for any signs of live insects, larvae, soil, or disease symptoms (like mold or rot).
   • Verify that the packaging materials (especially if wood is used) are clean and compliant.
4. (If Required) Fumigation: Some countries or products require fumigation to eliminate any potential pests. If this is a requirement for your destination, it is performed at this stage, and a separate Fumigation Certificate is issued.
5. Issuance of the Certificate: Once the quarantine officer is satisfied that the shipment meets all requirements, they will issue the official, numbered Phytosanitary Certificate. This original document is a key part of the shipping document set.
