Kemangi, or Lemon Basil, is a variety of basil with a distinct and powerful citrusy, lemony aroma and flavor. It is an indispensable herb in Southeast Asian, particularly Indonesian, cuisine. The leaves are typically eaten raw as part of a fresh vegetable platter (lalapan) to accompany grilled dishes, or added fresh to soups and curries at the end of cooking to preserve their potent fragrance.
